You've done it. Gone to the local credit union. Perhaps a co-op. Maybe even a farmer's market. What you've done is gone local. Therefore you get it. You get the spirit behind Community Solar.
Community Solar is local because it keeps the production of electricity, revenues and savings local.
What does local mean ? It means residents, small businesses and municipalities. Linked together with savings. That is, saving on utility bills. Saving the environment. Even saving dependence on big, out of town, energy companies.

Do they have to be real farms ?
Moderator says
There are a number of criteria. However, the regulations were put in place to keep the funds local. Farms tend to be the only open acreage which fits the bill. That’s why most of the Community Solar developments are farms.

If they fit in under the criteria then then don’t have to be a real farm. For example, a section of University property meeting the criteria would qualify under Community Solar regulations.
